Private Tutor for 11+ and Mathematics
Hi, I’m Karim.
When I started my tutoring journey 15 years ago, like most parents I had a full-time job, but I was keen to maximise the academic potential of my children and get them into good schools.
My First Clients:
My teaching guinea pigs were my own two children, Amir and Sara. As they started making noticeable improvements in their performance the word got out around parents' circles that I was a patient and competent tutor whose kids were benefiting and doing well.
Amir passed the 11+ entrance exam for Watford Grammar Boys and similarly, Sara passed the 11+ entrance exam for Henrietta Barnett School. I guess it was a natural progression that other friends and parents asked me if I could do the same for their children. First, on an informal basis and then, over time, on a much more regular and formal basis.
The Wider Determinants of Exam Success:
I quickly realised that while talent and focus were undoubtedly important to a child’s progress, there were many other contributory factors to a student’s success in taking and passing exams. These are what I call the wider determinants of success and they form the basis of my teaching methodology.

WHAT PEOPLE SAY
“I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for the guidance and support that you have given Alisha. Having spoken to her, she feels that the sessions were extremely beneficial and now feels better equipped for the exams that follow. Thank you for sharing all the strategies and techniques that will enable her to complete her exams to the best of her ability."

That was several years ago. I have since given up my role as a Business Analyst in the City. I now focus solely on maximising the academic potential of young people.
Some students come to me driven to pass entrance exams and others to receive a boost in confidence to help them enjoy the learning process and perform better in school. Whatever the required goals, I am able to set objectives to achieve targeted outcomes.

There are few second chances. The attention of a personal tutor enables your child to make the most of every valuable opportunity to learn and develop their academic skills throughout their critical formative years – a time in their lives that provides for very few second chances.
Personal tutoring can open up your child to an enthusiastic and engaging relationship with the subjects studied, promoting the kind of positive learning experience that builds confidence and motivation.
